- 2003
- Colorado activists use 4/20 events to help push for legal reform — planting early seeds of cannabis legislation.
- 2012
- Colorado and Washington become the first states to legalize recreational cannabis. 4/20 becomes a true celebration.
- 2018
- Canada legalizes recreational cannabis nationwide — and 4/20 goes global.
- 2020
- The entire month of April is “4/20” (4/20/2020) — but COVID makes it a digital-only celebration.
- 2022
